I was born in 1979 in Manerbio (BS), Italy. I received my MSc degree ("Laurea V.O.") in Electronic Engineering and my PhD in Information Engineering respectively in 2003 and 2007 from the University of Brescia, Italy. From March 2007 to April 2008 I was a postdoc in the Department of Electronics for Automation at the University of Brescia. From May 2008 to December 2018, I was an assistant professor in the Department of Information Engineering, where I am currently an associate professor.
I was the recipient of the 2014 IEEE Information Theory Society Paper Award and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Information Theory Society for the years 2018-2019. Since March 2020, I have been serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory and since Jan. 1, 2022 as a member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Information Theory Society.
